First, let’s just acknowledge that stress is a normal part of everyday life, whether it is small, daily issues, or big worrisome issues, stress tends to get in the way of the life you want to live.
Just like driving a car, you weren’t born being an expert driver. You had to learn how to do it – through some basic tips and tools from whoever taught you (how to parallel park) and some experience practicing getting better. Stress is the same – experience will help you learn to manage stress better, but there are also some great tools that are helpful to know – especially tools that really work.
This course provides tools and techniques to help you manage stress more effectively. We use some concepts from an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), as well as other activities. We mention this because we want you to know that the course activities are validated in research (See evidence on ACT here, if you are interested).
How does the course work?
- It is self-guided, meaning that you can complete it on your own at a pace that works for you.
- There are four modules that will take approximately (insert how long we estimate) to complete.
- You can stop and save your place at any time.
- Each module teaches specific skills, and you will work through them in order.
- To get the most from this course, we recommend that you complete one module every 2-4 days in order to give you enough time to apply the skills that you are learning in between lessons.
After you have completed each of the modules, we invite you to revisit modules over time to get a ‘booster’ on your skills to continue managing your stress. As you apply these skills in your life, we hope that you will be able to handle the difficulties you encounter more flexibly while persisting towards what matters most to you.
